The day somebody
found everything

Safe Stash did not start with a product. It started with an empty drawer, an open wardrobe and eleven minutes.

A safe tells a thief exactly where to look.
An ordinary object tells him nothing.

Everything we make comes from that one sentence. It is not about how hard something is to open. It is about never being the thing anyone picks up.

The break-in

In and out in eleven minutes

A ground-floor flat on the Spanish coast. A Tuesday afternoon, a window left on the latch. Nothing dramatic: no doors kicked in, no mess, no broken glass. Whoever came in knew exactly where to look. The wardrobe shelf. The bedside drawer. The shoebox at the back of the cupboard. And the small safe bolted inside the wardrobe, which they simply carried out whole.

The realisation

The only things they left were the boring ones

Every hiding place in that flat was the same hiding place everybody uses, and it took minutes to empty all of them. What nobody touched was the kitchen. The jars, the tins, the half-finished drinks can on the table, the cleaning products under the sink. Not worth a second of anyone's time. That was the whole lesson: a safe advertises, an ordinary object disappears.

The first one

A cola can with a screw base

The first Safe Stash was not a product, it was a fix. A cola can that had been standing on the kitchen table for two days: cut open, rethreaded by hand in a small workshop in Spain and weighted so it still felt full when somebody picked it up. It held the documents and the emergency cash for two years, in plain view, next to the fruit bowl. Guests, cleaners, family: nobody ever moved it.

Word got around

Can you make me one?

Friends asked. Then their friends. Then people we had never met, in other countries. It turned out plenty of people did not want a steel box bolted to a wall. They wanted somewhere sensible for the spare key, the emergency cash, a grandmother's ring, in a home full of other people coming and going.

Today

48 objects, more than 50 countries

Safe Stash is a catalogue of 48 everyday objects with a hidden compartment, made and shipped from Spain by HIGH HIDING, SL, with a shop you can walk into and orders leaving every week in plain, unbranded boxes to more than 50 countries. The rule has not changed since that first can: if it does not survive a second glance, it does not go in the catalogue.

What we will not bend on

Four things that have to be true

If a product fails one of these, it does not reach the shelf. This is the entire quality conversation, in four lines.

It survives a second look

The label, the finish, the wear and the proportions have to match the real thing. If it reads as a prop, it is useless.

It weighs what it should

A hollow can gives itself away the second someone lifts it. Ours are weighted and sealed so they feel full in the hand.

It belongs somewhere

Every object is picked because it already has a natural home: a kitchen shelf, a bathroom cabinet, a glovebox, a toolbox.

We say what it is not

These are not certified safes. They work by being invisible, not impenetrable, and we would rather tell you that before you buy.

Ready when you are

Hide in plain sight

48 everyday objects with a hidden compartment. Pick the room, and we have the object that belongs there.
